Installing Orchard 1.2.41 on WinHost

After several tries on upgrading to WinHost installer version of Orchard 1.2.3, I found that you can install Orchard with the installer but do not go to the Orchard site and start it up.

Make sure you have a app_offilne.html file in the root before upgrade. No need to backup anything as there is no data in the database except for the Win Host Installer SQL 2008 R2 set up.

SO lets FTP the whole orchard 1.2.41 over the WinHost installer 1.2.3 version and make sure and delete everything in the app_data folder of you site as cache.dat and both dependencies.xml and  it should not be there but also dependencies.compiled.xml.

After ftp go to your site and cook your recipe you will have a clean installation of Orchard 1.2.41.

Set up Mail module first after installation worked best for me as that was the problem Module for me in the past.

The rest of your site should work fine, but keep from installing a bunch of modules and pay attention the there published date to make sure they work with Orchard 1.2.41 as allot of the twitter and Social modules have a problem in 1.2.41.

I add The latest twitter module tweaked it by adding @anywhere functions tweet box, login, follow @me and web intents, Facebook, Twitter Feed, Google +1 and all social media in the HTML Module and not install any of modules in Orchard related to this. To much Clutter Orchard has to think about, and another thing to break and update.

I Had a problem of Orchard logging me out and in proc session state errors on first page loads. So to fix it I added a SQL 2008 R2 session state database. I created the database and had the support staff at WinHost.com run the session state schema against it. Then I added a connection string in the web.config  for the SQl Session State Database, and no more session state errors .
