Orchard Is Bad Ass
We have been using DNN since 2003 and its time to update to a cleaner framework that in today's comparisons in speed is unbelievable.
I installed on a, "WinHost shared server ASP.NET 4.0, SQL 2008 R2, Full trust, integrated IIS 7.0", the latest Orchard 1.2.41 and DNN 6.0 final. Stock the Orchard Site is about 30 times faster in Home page loading and about 600 times faster in administration. No Comparisons Orchard smokes DNN. Soon Orchard will have all the modules for about anything and it will be unbeatable.
I tweaked Orchard with all the images and styling from my Mansbooks site and it still with the added scripts and images is still about 30 times faster than DNN 6.0.
Check out how the HTML Module work's with twitter, Facebook or about anything you want to put in it except some forms, and then you just use oForms to add any form including data grid's. This makes Orchard fully integrable to about all jquay anything.
The only issue I had was session state, as orchard was designed for SQL server Compact, and was using allot of the WinHost Shared 100mb of memory to connect to SQL 2008 and i would get frequent memory overages and a timeout, which equals a session state error and getting logged out. I fixed that with a SQL 2008 R2 Session State database, that WinHost staff was kind enough to run the session state schema against after I set up the database.
After the Session State fix, then my Orchard 1.2.41 installation was fast and no intermittent logout's.
